Café des Abattoirs, meat counter
This meat counter is located on Rue Gomboust, 300 feet away from Absinthe and a 2-minute walk from the Relais Saint-Honoré.

It is decorated in a mixture of traditional and modern style without being superfluous. The kitchen is half open to the entrance and to the bright room (maybe a little too much for my taste). Nice bistro tables with pretty trays in sanded raw wood, quilted leather frescoes, fun and fairly elegant.
The table is set with sobriety and quality, old silver covers, cloth towel, pretty goblet and bistro crystal glass. The whole ambiance is friendly and warm.

For lunch, they offer a formula of an appetizer on a slate plate, a meat of the day with the garnish of your choice, and a gourmet coffee for €22. You can also opt for one of the 3 formulas (€ 32-38 or € 45) offering a first course, a meat and a dessert.
Here, the courses served for the whole table are shared, including some meats (magnificent beef ribs and veal ribs).
Starter of the day to share
The menu offers a very nice selection of meats: An Oyster Steak marinated in an acidulous soy sauce; the famous Black Angus beef of Scotland, skirt or enhanced, in ribs grilled in the oven; a Côtes d'Armor steak; a Black Iberian Pig secreto; or gorgeous lamb shoulder skewers with curry, lemon confit, coriander garlic and shallot.
But, the most important, this is cooked in a Jasper wood oven (the top professional oven). It is impossible to have at home such a melting texture lined with a braised flavor.

The skirt steak is served in a cast iron pan with very good homemade fries, cut with a knife, made crispy on the surface and soft to the core, with two frying baths. You can also choose a puree or salad and match-stick potatoes or seasoned vegetables roasted in the oven.
The meat can be decorated with one of the five homemade sauces.
An excellent, very well served creme brulee, with well-accentuated vanilla taste and a perfect texture, ideally concludes this ball of very well prepared dishes.
There is a good selection of wines by the glass ranging from € 4.50 to € 8. You need to count on average € 50, with wine and coffee included, for a meal in terms of value for money.
