Louvre Bouteille, passionately yours

This frequently visited bistro is located at 150 rue Saint-Honoré and is held by a business duo: sommelier Frederic Lebel (Le Crillon, Lenôtre, Le Pré Catelan) orchestrates the ideas of his young chef Mathieu Boulay, who honed his skills at Jerome Brochot's in Montceau-les-Mines (1 Michelin star). They both started their business anew in early 2015.

Frédéric Lebel and Mathieu Boulay
The bistro features two rooms. The ground floor's setting is somewhat gray and white with touches of other colors, furniture and fixtures follow the fashion trend, plus houndstooth fabric... Upstairs, a nice wooden flooring is painted in the same beautiful red color of the storefront. Black walls, painted exposed stones. These exposed stone are those of the ancient wall of Paris, and the house is an old mill.
What can we eat here?
Traditional, simple, market and seasonal cuisine. In fact, Mathieu Boulay has a taste in local food, nature, authenticity. He loves an respects wonderful seasonal products. Mathieu Boulay does not like vegetables that cost a flight ticket to get served on the plate. A tomato in December? No way! The menu specifies that: "Our vegetables come from the Farm Beauvoyer of Lecoq family in Rosny/Seine, as products of reasonable farming".
So, this is a traditional French cuisine with a personal touch. For that reason, Mathieu Boulay renews his menu every week. As he says, inspiration does not always come when you call, so you have to work, delve into books, surf on social networks. They work together with Frédéric Lebel during wine pairing tastings.
What does the menu offer?
- Main course or starter: €18 at noon and €25 at night
- Dish of the day and a glass of wine: €19.50 - at noon only
- Starter course or dessert: €27.50 at noon and € 34.50 at night
- Starter course dessert: € 36 at noon and 42 € at night
With this goes a fine selection of wines and 8 wines by the glass, from €4.00 to €26.00 for a great vintage.
The dishes are served in a creative and an elegant manner. Don't you eat it all with your eyes, yet?
Poached egg and mashed peas under pink garlic emulsion
Carrot soup, crispy sesame with Espelette pepper
Mathieu Boulay has found his "own line", as he says: Products are always supplied in a very neat, with odds, manner.
The address to explore with a young promising chef.
