The Tuileries, the oldest garden in Paris

It's a French garden, a breath of fresh air right in Paris, located just 200 meters from the Relais Saint Honoré. It is the oldest and largest garden in Paris after the Villette park. The garden is bordered by the Palais du Louvre, Rue de Rivoli, the Place de la Concorde and the Seine.
 

 

This monument previously included The Tuileries Palace, but it is no long there today. This former royal and imperial residence, from Henri IV to Napoleon III, was in fact deliberately destroyed on May 23, 1871 during the insurrectionary events of La commune. The palace burned for 3 days after which there remained only ruins, which were razed in 1883.
 

It was Catherine de Medici who, starting in 1564 commenced construction of The Tuileries Palace along with the development of a Italian garden and in 1664, Jean-Baptiste Colbert and Louis XIV ordered that the garden be redesigned by André Le Nôtre, the landscape architect for the gardens of Versailles.

The Jeu de Paume Museum offers a selection of exhibitions focusing on photography and image with elegant and airy set designs. The museum currently has two interesting exhibitions.

The Weather forecast exhibition by the Chinese artist Xiao Guan consists of video triptychs assembled from images taken from the web and offers a sensory look, a kind of forecasting for the state of the world and the man in the middle.

The exhibition Josef Sudek, The World at My Window presents 130 photographs, taken in 1920-1976, of the artist's relationship with his workshop, his garden, the streets of Prague and the surrounding countryside.

The Orangerie Museum is a museum of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings . It presents particular Waterlilies by Claude Monet 360 °.

From October 12, 2016 until January 30, 2017, the museum will present American paintings of the 1930s, produced by the Art Institute of Chicago.
